My 2 world records

107.143 km/h on an Upside-Down Ski: My Home World Record!

Watching Elias Ambühl speed down the slopes to set the men's world record for ski racing in reverse, I thought, "Why not me?

The little voice inside me that urges me to take on challenges has given me the desire to become the first woman to set such a record.

But not just anywhere: I wanted to do it at home, at Le Grand Massif, the ski area where I work and share my passion for skiing.

A dream come true at home

Why the Grand Massif?

Because it's more than just a ski area to me. This is where I pass on my passion for skiing to my customers, this is where I train, this is where I've built a large part of my life. Achieving this record on these slopes was a way of showing that you can achieve great things by adapting to your terrain.

The big day: defying speed in reverse!

So here I am, ready to take on this crazy challenge: to set the first ski speed record... in reverse! A bit like driving a car in reverse on the freeway, but with skis on and much less margin for error. It has to be said that this kind of challenge leaves no room for hesitation.

It's all or nothing, full speed ahead!

The pressure was on, but I had an incredible force with me: my friends, my colleagues, my customers, all gathered to support me and share this unique moment. It was much more than just a personal challenge, it was a real moment of sharing and connecting with the people who are part of my daily life.

The moment of truth: a record 107.143 km/h!

With my heart beating wildly, I picked myself up and sped down the Les Carroz slope... in reverse! The wind whistling in my ears, the adrenalin pumping, and the slope whizzing by at incredible speed.

It's a moment I'll never forget. At the finish, the verdict was in: 107.143 km/h in reverse ski speed.

The women's world record was set!

It was a mixture of emotions, joy, pride, and above all, the feeling of having accomplished something great at home, surrounded by the people who matter most.

A world record, yes, but above all a record shared with my community, in the ski area where I work and where I continue to teach my passion.

What this record means to me

  • The importance of daring to take the plunge: It would have been easy to leave this challenge to someone else, to tell ourselves that it wasn't possible, but daring to take the plunge is already half the battle.
  • The power to excel: No matter how crazy a challenge may seem, with determination and courage, anything is possible.
  • The pleasure of sharing: Achieving this record at home was an opportunity to show my customers, my friends and my community that anything is possible, even on the track we know by heart.

What's next?

Every time I return to this track, I have a story to tell, a proud moment to share with those I accompany. This world record is much more than a number or a medal, it's a powerful message: with training, hard work and perseverance, any goal can become a reality.

Nothing is left to chance, and it's thanks to hours of preparation, rehearsal and surpassing myself that I was able to achieve this record.

I hope this feat inspires everyone to believe in their dreams, to give it their all, and to understand that with the right training, what seems impossible can become possible.

Because the real secret is that success never comes by chance, it's the fruit of effort and the will to always surpass oneself, no matter what the challenge, even if it means going down a mountain... upside down!

My record is officially listed in Guinness World Records 2019, page 109. Take a look and discover this feat.

The Day I Ran a Half-Marathon in Ski Boots: A Guinness Record Like No Other!

When we think of half-marathons, we usually think of ultra-light sneakers, energy drinks and a motivating playlist.

But have you ever imagined running a half-marathon... in rigid alpine ski boots? Yes, you read that right...

It all began at a party with friends, one of those moments when the wildest ideas come to life. Between two laughs, someone said:

"Emilie, you could run a half-marathon in ski boots, couldn't you?

Look, an English doctor has already set the record for men, so it's not likely that you'll be the first for women!"

And so the challenge was launched, the crazy idea turned into a mission I was ready to take on.

An adventure like no other

On D-Day, I put on my hard alpine ski boots, the ones I normally wear on the snowy slopes.

To validate the record, it was absolutely necessary to wear these very rigid shoes (no cross-country ski boots, for example), which made the challenge even more unique. Surprisingly, the first few kilometers went smoothly. I was quite comfortable, and even surprised myself by finding my own pace without too much effort.

But everything changed from the 18th kilometer onwards...

The real challenge begins

It was at this point that I began to feel the effects of these shoes, which were much better suited to snow than asphalt. Due to the total absence of ankle flexion, blood circulation began to be hampered.

My body began to swell, and I had to stop from time to time to take off my shoes, move my ankles, get the circulation going again, then put them back on and set off again. These breaks were essential to keep going.

And then there were the blisters... those little unwanted guests who started to make themselves felt over the last few kilometers.

Each step became a mixture of determination and burning, but giving up so close to the goal was out of the question!

The moment of glory: the Guinness World Record is mine!

After 3 hours, 3 minutes and 20 seconds of effort (and a few "obligatory boot" stops), I crossed the finish line. I had done it: I had become the fastest woman to run a half-marathon in alpine ski boots!

As well as being a sporting feat, this Guinness World Record is the fruit of a slightly crazy adventure born of a simple bet between friends, and I have unforgettable memories of it.

What did I learn from this experience?

  • Never underestimate evening challenges: What starts out as a joke can turn into an exceptional moment.
  • Passion and determination can take you beyond your limits: Even with blisters and ski boots on your feet!
  • A little craziness makes challenges more memorable: And it's always better to have a unique story to tell afterwards.

Why is this record important to me?

Beyond the sporting performance, this record is a reminder that incredible things can be achieved when you step out of your comfort zone. Whether in sneakers, ski boots or even bare feet, the important thing is to dare to go for it and give it your all!

So if you too have a crazy dream or an idea that seems unrealistic, go for it!
