Hi there!
Today, I'd like to break a myth: that of the "right moment". You know, that perfect Monday or the magical first of January when everything begins as if by magic? Well, there's no need to wait!
We start now, here, together. And I'm sharing with you my goal for 2025. A great adventure, a challenge that's close to my heart, and an exploration I want to experience with you.
My 2025 Goal: Speak English with confidence and pleasure
I'll let you in on a little secret: English and I have a complicated relationship. For years, I've had this urge to exchange and share, but the words often get stuck. Have you ever felt this frustration? When you want to express yourself, but embarrassment, shyness or even a little shame hold you back?
With my job and my travels, it became clear that I had to progress. But this time, I decided to approach things differently. No pressure, no stress. Just one step at a time. And it was thanks to a key person, Samantha Richard (her website, smile-and-move.fr, is a nugget), that things clicked. She showed me that you can learn by having fun, by moving, and above all, by daring to make mistakes.
My method: small steps every day
For 600 consecutive days, I've been loyal to the Duolingo application. Yes, 600 days! It's helped me lay the foundations. But for 2025, I want to go further.
My aim is simple: to have experiences in English, to exchange with people, and to create memories in this language.
What's your big project for 2025? If you're still hesitating, let me give you a few tips to get you started, even now.
A challenge for you this month
Write a sentence describing your main goal for 2025 in the language of your choice.
For me, in English, it's "In 2025, I want to speak English with confidence and have fun learning!"
What about you? Take a moment to think about what you really want to achieve. Then share your phrase with me by email. This simple exercise will take you one step closer.
My milestones for 2025
- Continuing the Duolingo routine: Solid habits make great progress. I'm going to continue my daily sessions with Duolingo to consolidate my basics while keeping things fun and motivating.
- Practice every day, on your own and with your family:
- The idea here is to immerse myself in the language on a daily basis, whether solo or with my family. Here's how I'm going to do it:
- Solo: Every day, I listen to an English podcast adapted to my level. This helps me not only to enrich my vocabulary but also to get used to the accent and natural expressions.
- Family: With my daughter Mia, we're going to introduce new habits such as :
- Write a few of the day's most memorable words or phrases together in a special notebook.
- Read or listen to age-appropriate stories in English. It makes learning fun and strengthens our bond.
- Try to speak English on simple subjects, like describing what you're eating or doing.
- Participate in real-life exchanges: There's no substitute for practice in authentic situations. My goal is to find events, workshops or conversation groups where I can practice English in immersion. If you have any ideas or know of initiatives near me (or even elsewhere), I'd love to hear from you!
- Share my journey with you:
- I promise to share everything with you: my successes, my moments of doubt, and the tips I discover as I learn. Together, we can stay motivated and move forward, step by step.
- Give sports lessons in English.
Your turn to play
No need to wait. Whether it's a sporting, personal or even linguistic goal, start now. Take a small step. Write your sentence, start a new habit, or share your challenge with me.
And if you have any suggestions, ideas, or contacts to help me practice English in authentic contexts, I'm all ears.
