On April 14, 2025, during the Instructors’ Challenge at Alpe d’Huez, my right knee gave out on the final jump.
Verdict: Anterior cruciate ligament tear, twelve years after my left knee injury.
But this time, I refuse to just put up with it.
One year, two knees, a complete reconstruction
*L’Arc qui se ferme* is my autobiographical journal. My name is Émilie Cruz; I’m a fitness coach in Haute-Savoie and a former freestyle skier.
In it, I recount—without holding anything back—a year of rehabilitation following a cruciate ligament tear: the surgery, the pain, the doubts, the fear of getting injured again, the treatment plans, the closed doors, and the small victories that keep me going.
This blog isn't just about sports injuries. It's about physical and mental recovery, getting back into sports, confidence, and the ability to keep moving forward when your body suddenly decides to shut down.
Why Read *L’Arc qui se ferme*?
This is not a medical textbook or a miracle cure. It is a real-life experience, seen from the inside, involving:
- Behind the Scenes of Cruciate Ligament Rehabilitation;
- the psychological reality of returning to sports;
- practical lessons after each step;
- an honest, human, and at times somewhat raw account;
- A journey from injury to getting back on the skis.
Whether you're an athlete, in physical therapy, feeling uncertain, or simply facing a challenge, some of these pages might just resonate with your own story.
I wasn't completely ready. But I was there.
Find out how I learned to listen to my body, to ask questions, to rebuild, and to close a chapter that had remained open for twelve years.
What if my story could help you move forward, too?
